Over 80 new titles have been added to the cinema's rotation after new receptionist Viv and Christina, who lives near Chawley Grove, handed over DVDs from their personal collections.

Residents will be able to relax in Chawley Grove's luxury cinema with popcorn to enjoy an eclectic range of movies.

There's something for everyone with everything from classics like The African Queen and The Shawshank Redemption to high-octane dramas Mr & Mrs Smith and The Expendables 3 to romcoms like The Holiday.

Regional Community Relations Lead Mark Laundy said there are also big plans for a family film club in 2022.

Mark said: "We're so grateful to Viv and Christina for donating a wonderful selection of movies that'll keep our residents entertained.

"There's nothing better than an afternoon of big-screen magic and popcorn, the residents love having a cinema on their doorstep.

"As soon as it's safe to, we intend to open up our cinema for the community, particularly local children whose families might not be able to afford the cost of movie tickets."

Team Chawley Grove hopes to be able to host families at the cinema and has a range of children's favourites that'll light up the big screen.

Not only will it provide an excellent resource for local families who need to watch costs, and it also gives residents the chance to build intergenerational bonds with the children.

Mark said: "We've got some brilliant children's films in our collection and we can't wait to screen them for local youngsters.

"We love welcoming younger visitors to the home, and the residents always enjoy chatting to children.

"We hope to make some special movie memories as soon as it's safe to do so."
