Lovell Place Welcomes Local Mums and Babies for Inaugural Lullaby Circle with Alive Activities

Residents at Lovell Place Care Home in Charlton Hayes, Bristol, shared a morning of singing, sensory play, and precious intergenerational connection as the home hosted its very first Lullaby Circle session.

There was music, laughter, and a sense of calm warmth throughout Lovell Place Care Home on Wednesday 19th August, as the home proudly hosted its inaugural Lullaby Circle session in partnership with the acclaimed charity Alive Activities.

The morning brought together residents, local mums, and their babies for a gentle sensory session filled with nursery songs, tactile play, and spontaneous moments of connection. The initiative forms part of Lovell Place's ongoing commitment to building meaningful relationships between residents and the wider Charlton Hayes and North Bristol community.

A Partnership with BBC-Featured Charity Alive Activities

To deliver the programme, Lovell Place joined hands with Alive Activities, one of the leading organisations in the South West dedicated to enriching the lives of older people in care. Widely recognised for their pioneering work and recently featured by the BBC, Alive Activities designs intergenerational experiences that encourage natural engagement and mutual wellbeing.

Throughout the morning, facilitators guided residents and visiting mothers through musical activities, gentle rhythm games, and sensory props. For the babies, the relaxed environment offered new colours, sounds, and encouraging smiles. For the residents, holding hands, singing familiar melodies, and watching little ones explore brought an immediate sense of purpose and companionship.

The Power of Intergenerational Connection

Intergenerational gatherings have long been celebrated for their positive impact on emotional health, particularly for older adults living with dementia or memory loss. The presence of infants and young children often sparks joyful reminiscence, prompting residents to share fond memories of raising their own children, grandchildren, and family life in decades past.

The informal nature of Lullaby Circle allows connections to form naturally. Residents enjoyed cuddles with the babies, shared parenting wisdom with the visiting mothers, and simply took pleasure in the uplifting energy that young children bring into a shared living space.

"The session brought so much joy to everyone involved and created a truly heartwarming opportunity for different generations to connect and spend precious time together. A huge thank you to Alive Activities and everyone who joined us."

Looking Ahead: Monthly Sessions at Lovell Place

Following the success and warmth of this inaugural morning, Lovell Place and Alive Activities will be running Lullaby Circle as a regular monthly fixture. The home looks forward to welcoming back familiar faces and opening its doors to new parents and babies from Patchway, Filton, Bradley Stoke, and across Bristol.
