Creative residents at an Ampthill care home have won a special art award for a colour-drenched portrait of Sir David Attenborough.
The talented group from Richmond Manor Care Home on Dunstable Street worked with art teacher Joanne Goodrum to create the eye-catching artwork.
Joanne, who leads Creative Mojo workshops across Bedford and the surrounding districts, said the group was thrilled when their collaborative artwork won a 100th Anniversary Times award from Creative Mojo.
Resident Daphne Wheaton, aged 85, said: “It is a very well-deserved award. Joanne is inspirational, and at every session we create a piece of artwork that is either relevant to what is going on in the world or close to our hearts.”
The group’s prize was to have postcards made of their Attenborough artwork, which they were delighted to receive.
Creative Mojo sessions, which regularly run at Richmond Manor, are designed to provide cognitive stimulation, develop motor skills and boost wellbeing.
Joanne said: “I enjoy working for Creative Mojo as I can use my teaching skills to get creative with older people. I get a huge amount of satisfaction helping residents to produce a collaborative piece of artwork.”
