Celebrations have taken place at Dorking Manor Care Home after their first inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) resulted in a ‘Good’ rating across the board.
Inspectors visited the luxury home on Ridgeway Road earlier this summer and found it to be ‘Good’ across their five criteria of ‘Safe’, ‘Effective’, ‘Caring’, ‘Responsive’ and ‘Well-led’.
Residents, relatives and colleagues all shared glowing feedback when interviewed by the CQC inspectors, praising the high standard of person-centred care, community links and facilities at Dorking Manor.
The inspectors wrote, “A relative said, ‘It is extremely well-run and has achieved a real sense of community, not only for the residents but for their families too.’
“A relative told us: ‘[THEIR LOVED ONE] enjoys the food, eats well, has put on weight… and looks younger and healthier now than when he moved to Dorking Manor.’"
Home Manager Emma Dudhee and her team were praised for their efforts to create a true community atmosphere at the home and their caring approach.
According to the report, one of the team at Dorking Manor said: “I drive 1 hour to get here, so that's how much I enjoy it here. I have a lot of other options, but I want to be here."
Dorking Manor opened in November 2024 and has hosted community events including a recent Dog Show and an exhibition of a resident’s artistic work.
Home Manager Emma said the ‘Good’ rating was a wonderful achievement for the entire team.
Emma said: “We are really pleased to have received a ‘Good’ rating across the board following the inspection. What was particularly meaningful were the comments from our residents and their loved ones. Their feedback means a great deal to us and makes all the hard work worthwhile.”
