A care home in Cofton Hackett marked International Nurses Day by showing appreciation to its local district nurses with gifts, food and big thanks.
The team at Cofton Park Manor Care Home welcomed members of the West Heath District Nurses Team for a special celebration, treating them to a buffet and bags of goodies in recognition of their dedication and support to the community.
District Nurse with the West Heath District Nurses Team Nicki Valentine said: “It is wonderful to get such a lovely thank you from everyone at Cofton Park Manor Care Home.
“The support and kindness shown to us really means a lot, especially as district nurses are often out in the community caring for people behind the scenes.
“Days like this remind us how valued and appreciated we are. The buffet and gifts were such a thoughtful touch, and it was lovely to spend time together with the care home team. Thank you to everyone at Cofton Park Manor for making us feel so welcome.”
District nurses provide essential community-based care to patients in their own homes, GP surgeries and care homes, supporting people with a wide range of healthcare needs.
Community Relations Lead at Cofton Park Manor Care Home Wendy Sibley said: “Our district nurses do an amazing job serving people across our community every single day. They are always there to support residents, families and staff whenever needed.
“We wanted to do something special for International Nurses Day to show just how grateful we are for everything they do. It was lovely to see them take a little time out to relax, enjoy some food and be recognised for the incredible work they carry out all year round.”
International Nurses Day is celebrated globally each year on May 12, marking the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth and recognising the dedication and vital contribution nurses make to healthcare and society.
The 2026 theme, “Our Nurses. Our Future. The economic power of care,” highlights the professional and economic impact of nursing across communities worldwide.
