A dedicated care home worker from Cofton Hackett has been recognised on the national stage after being shortlisted for a prestigious award.
Wellbeing Coach at Cofton Park Manor Care Home Gail Bessent has been named a finalist in the Activities Coordinator category at the Stars of Social Care – Care Home Awards 2026.
The ceremony is set to take place in London on 13 June, bringing together some of the most outstanding professionals from across the sector.
Gail, who has worked at the Lickey Road home since 2022, said: “It’s amazing news, especially when the competition is so strong.
“I didn’t come into this job to win awards – it’s all about the people and caring for them at a time when they need it most. To be recognised for doing something I truly care about is very special.”
It’s Gail’s job to focus on residents’ quality of life by organising activities as well as emotional support.
Home Manager Kerry Hill said: “Gail has bundles of passion, warmth and creativity and every day she makes a significant difference to residents, helping to create a wonderful home for everyone.
“We are very proud of Gail and delighted that she has been shortlisted for this prestigious award.”
Now in their fourth year, the Stars of Social Care – Care Home Awards celebrate excellence across the care sector, shining a spotlight on individuals who go above and beyond in their roles.
Organisers say the awards are designed not only to recognise outstanding achievements but also to raise awareness of the vital role care workers play every day. From frontline carers to activity coordinators, the event honours those who demonstrate exceptional commitment and make a lasting impact on the lives of others.
Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony in London in June.
