Residents at a Patchway care home put the kettle on as they welcomed family, friends and neighbours for a celebration of National Tea Day.
At Lovell Place Care Home, Sparrowbill Way, the day was brewed to perfection, with residents gathering to sip, savour and share stories over a rich menu of teas - proving there’s far more to tea than just the classic builder’s brew.
Resident Ian James, aged 96, said: “I’ve been enjoying a good cuppa for many decades, and it’s amazing how something so simple can make you so happy.
“We had such a lovely time comparing flavours - each one had its own personality. The chamomile was especially soothing, like a warm hug in a teacup.”
The care home team also invited residents and guests to take a “tea poll,” inviting them to vote for their favourite blend.
Chamomile steeped its way to the top spot, while Spiced Ginger finished last.
And the much-loved traditional tea was served with freshly baked scones, crumbly shortbread and sticky toffee cake.
Home Manager Daney Thomas said: “For our residents, tea isn’t just a drink, it’s part of the rhythm of the day, a ritual that brings comfort and connection.
“National Tea Day gave us the perfect excuse to put the kettle on, share a laugh, and enjoy a proper natter. It just goes to show that the simplest pleasures - good company and a well-made cuppa - can be the most uplifting.”
