Residents at Chawley Grove Care Home are being invited to share their hopes, dreams and special requests through a new wellbeing wish tree.
The wish tree has officially taken root at the Cumnor Hill care home, giving residents the opportunity to write down meaningful experiences they would like to enjoy and hang them on the tree. The team will then work to bring as many of those wishes to life as possible.
The wellbeing wish tree has been designed to celebrate each resident as an individual, with their own memories, interests and personal hopes.
Wishes could include anything from a favourite meal or a nostalgic day trip to reconnecting with someone special, revisiting a past hobby or learning something new. The aim is to create moments that feel personal, thoughtful and memorable for residents and their families.
By inviting residents to share what matters to them, the project also gives team members another way to learn more about each person’s story and the experiences that would bring them joy.
The wish tree was unveiled during a special celebration at Chawley Grove, hosted by local florist Steven Wheeler from Flower Designed by Steven.
Residents and families enjoyed Forget-Me-Not themed refreshments, complete with edible flowers, as the new feature was introduced to the home.
Steven said: “I visit Chawley Grove and very much feel like part of their family. Unveiling the wellbeing wish tree has been a fabulous event and I can’t wait to be part of helping to make the wishes come true!”
Wellbeing Lead Danni Hudson said the project has been carefully planned over several months and reflects the home’s commitment to placing residents at the centre of daily life.
“This has been a project that we have been working on for some time and we are so excited to finally see it come to life,” Danni said.
“Every resident has a story, a dream or something special they would love to experience, and this tree is all about making those moments happen.
“We can’t wait to start making dreams come true for our wonderful residents.”
The wish tree is expected to become a permanent feature at Chawley Grove Care Home, bringing residents, relatives and team members together through kindness, creativity and shared experiences.
