Montague House Care Home in Brampton is celebrating after receiving an overall 'Good' rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC), with inspectors awarding an 'Outstanding' rating for the home's Caring provision.
Following an inspection that took place in August, the regulator praised the home's person-centred approach, highlighting the ways colleagues support residents to continue enjoying the things that matter most to them.
Inspectors recognised how residents are treated as individuals, with care and support tailored to their preferences, needs and personal aspirations.
The report highlighted several examples of how the team goes above and beyond. One resident, who was unable to attend a family wedding, was able to take part in the celebrations when colleagues transformed the home's cinema room into a private viewing space and displayed wedding photographs on the big screen.
The inspectors also recognised how the team responded when a resident shared that they missed being able to play the piano. In response, a piano was installed in a quiet lounge, allowing them to reconnect with an activity that was both therapeutic and deeply meaningful.
Residents and colleagues shared positive feedback about life at Montague House, with the report also recognising the leadership of Home Manager Paula Yorkston Toy and the positive impact she has had on the home.
One colleague told inspectors:
"The home has changed significantly since the last inspection. A lot of that is down to [the Registered Manager's] influence. Residents and relatives know her well because she is highly visible and approachable."

The result means that all Hamberley Care Homes across England are now rated 'Good' by the CQC, while Hamberley's homes in Scotland have achieved 'Very Good' ratings from the Care Inspectorate.
