Blooming Brilliant - Joy Snaps Up Top Prize in Care Home Photo Show

Blooming Brilliant - Joy Snaps Up Top Prize in Care Home Photo Show

The wonders of spring have been brought to life through the camera lenses of talented residents at a Hindhead care home – with a perfectly-timed ladybird stealing the spotlight.

Residents at Hindhead Place Care Home, Portsmouth Road, have been displaying their creative flair in the home’s colourful Spring in Bloom Photography Exhibition.

Top prize went to resident Joy Hoare, whose photograph of a ladybird perched delicately on a dandelion wowed fellow residents, staff and visitors alike who voted for the winning image.

Joy, who was supported by her friend Brenda Kime, said: “I couldn’t have done it without her. I enjoy getting outside and having the opportunity to take photographs like I always used to.”

Residents explored local beauty spots to capture their entries – from their own care home gardens to the scenery of the National Trust’s Devil’s Punchbowl.

Customer Relations Manager Tina Laing said: “Many of our lovely residents joined the challenge and took a variety of wonderful photographs around our garden and at our favourite National Trust destination – The Devil’s Punchbowl.

“The exhibition has created such excitement throughout the home and it’s been wonderful to see everyone sharing stories, memories and creativity through photography.”

The photographs are displayed in the Hindhead Place reception area.

Joy was presented with a congratulatory card and her very own flowerpot by staff and fellow residents after being crowned the exhibition winner.
