Young dancers from The Walsh Academy performed Irish dancing in the sunshine during an event-packed 17th March 2022.

The day began with a ‘Top of the Morning!’ cooked breakfast followed by a screening of Mrs Brown’s Boys in Richmond’s cinema room.

According to Receptionist Sarah Horne, the highlight of the day was the entertainment from Walsh Academy’s gifted youngsters.

Sarah said: “The dancers were terrific, and they put on a fantastic show for us.

“The residents absolutely love spending time with children, and it’s been a long time since we were able to welcome young people to the home.

“Resident Christine got really emotional seeing the kids do their dancing, and it was lovely to see how much it meant to everybody to have them with us.”

The day was action-packed as at midday, having laughed their socks off at Mrs Brown’s antics, Residents headed off to enjoy a ‘Pot of Gold’ lunch.

They tucked into Irish potato bites, Guinness beef stew and a traditional Irish apple cake, all homemade by Chef Erica.

It was back to the cinema room in the early afternoon to enjoy a bit of competition with the Dublin Cup Races game and a trivia session.

After some refreshments and the dance show, Residents tucked into a ‘Luck of the Irish’ supper of Colcannon, Irish potato soup and cakes.

Sarah added: “Chef Erica outdid herself on St Patrick’s Day - she laid on an exceptional spread at every meal.

“We also enjoyed some delicious Irish coffees during the day, which Residents loved.

“It was a wonderful, sunny and happy time for all of us – and we’re very much looking forward to our next event.”
