Generations Unite at Bedford Care Home for Wellbeing Session

Generations Unite at Bedford Care Home for Wellbeing Session

Students and residents came together to share experiences and learn from one another during a special health and wellbeing session at a Wixams care home.

Students from Bedford College’s health and social care course visited Elstow Manor Care Home as part of a practical observation session exploring how complementary therapies can support older people’s physical and mental wellbeing.

During the visit, students spent time with residents learning about therapies including music sessions, reminiscence activities, hand massages and wider wellbeing techniques used within the home to help improve mood, reduce anxiety and encourage social interaction.

The event also gave students the opportunity to hear first-hand from residents about the positive impact the activities have on their daily lives, while residents enjoyed the chance to meet and chat with younger generations.

Elstow Manor Wellbeing and Lifestyle Coach Oliver Waddington said: “The physical and mental wellbeing of our residents is crucial to all of us and sessions like this are incredibly valuable. It was wonderful to see the generations come together, talk openly and learn from one another about how different therapies can positively impact wellbeing.”

After the session at the Bedford Road home, students and residents sat down together to enjoy tea and cakes.
