THE KING of rock n’ roll was the guest of honour at an Eastleigh care home as residents spent the day celebrating things that bring them joy.
The ‘Day of Happiness’ was hosted at Alston House Care Home on Leigh Road where colleagues created a fun-packed experience.
Elvis, aka tribute performer Craig Jefferson, was top of the bill as he led the thrilled residents in a journey through Presley’s legendary hits.
Resident Audrey Windsor, aged 92, said: “Nothing makes me happier than Elvis, those songs have been a constant in my life. It was lovely to sing along - this ‘Elvis’ was very good and had all the right moves!”
Revellers were encouraged to wear outfits and fancy dress that made them smile, and there was a special treat when takeaway pizzas arrived.
Caricature artist Sam Allen captured the spirit of the day, creating rib-tickling portraits of colleagues and residents alike.
Wellbeing and Lifestyle Coach Kelly-Marie Adams said: “This was one of the most joyful events we’ve ever hosted at Alston House – the atmosphere was fantastic.
“We wanted a day to celebrate happiness and bring as much fun and laughter to the home as possible, so it was mission accomplished.
“It was lovely to talk to the residents, to hear their stories and find out the things that bring them joy. It gives us plenty of inspiration for the future!”
