Alpacas Steal The Show at Wixams Care Home Family Fun Day

Alpacas Steal The Show at Wixams Care Home Family Fun Day

Families flocked together for a day of springtime fun, laughter and plenty of furry encounters at a Bedford care home’s Easter celebration.

Residents at Elstow Manor Care Home, Bedford Road welcomed relatives, friends, family and local visitors for a lively community event marking the Easter holidays.

However, it was the animal guests who proved the biggest hit of the day and the stars of the show were a group of friendly alpacas from Hertfordshire-based Fuzzy’s Farm.

Visitors queued up to stroke, feed and snap photos with the gentle animals, creating plenty of memorable moments.

Resident Audrey Mehew was thrilled to meet the special visitors. She said: “The alpacas are incredible – I absolutely loved meeting them. They were so calm and friendly, it really made my day.”

Alongside the animal encounters, the care home was buzzing with activity. Children took part in an Easter egg scavenger hunt, while craft tables were filled with creativity as families decorated colourful bonnets and made chocolate nests.

There were also plenty of smiles thanks to face painting by Moondust Face and Body Art.

Elstow Manor’s Wellbeing and Lifestyle Coach, Oliver Waddington, said the event was all about bringing people together and creating joyful experiences.

He added: “It was a fantastic afternoon for our residents, family members and the wider community to come together and enjoy the beautiful spring sunshine with Easter-themed activities and the alpaca petting experience. It was great to see everyone laughing, smiling and really enjoying themselves.”
