Residents and team members at Alston House Care Home in Eastleigh recently celebrated the success of a year of fundraising for a local charity during one of the home’s regular Knit and Natter mornings.
The group welcomed Lin Barringer from The Sophie Barringer Trust to join them for coffee and cake as they reflected on the activities that helped raise an impressive £910.47 for the charity during 2025.
The fundraising was supported by residents, relatives and the knitting group at Alston House, with money raised through the sale of handcrafted items as well as tombolas, raffles and themed events. One highlight included a fun “Stars in Their Eyes” dress-up day which brought residents and the team together for a day of entertainment and community spirit.
Everyone involved was delighted to support The Sophie Barringer Trust, a local charity that provides valuable help and support to families in the community.
Regular activities like the Knit and Natter mornings offer residents the chance to socialise, share hobbies and work together on projects that make a positive difference beyond the home.
The visit from Lin provided a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the group’s achievement and thank everyone who contributed to the fundraising efforts.
