Care Home residents Frank Keane and Doreen McGiveron proved that prom night isn’t just for youngsters as they were crowned King and Queen at their home’s first-ever prom.
Chawley Grove Care Home, on Cumnor Hill, went all out to throw an incredible American-style prom for the residents, featuring a former X Factor contestant, singing waiters, and Elvis.
Everyone got dressed up to the nines for the evening, for which the home was transformed into a stunning party space by Stages Theatrical and Steven Wheeler from Flowers DbS.
Everyone had an amazing night, but Frank and Doreen had an extra reason to celebrate as they were crowned prom royalty.
Doreen said: “I never expected to become a prom queen at this point in my life, so I felt a million dollars!”
Frank added: “I’m proud to be the prom king – we’re showing the youngsters how it’s done!”
Musical entertainment was provided by Jacqueline Faye (who took part in the X Factor in 2018) and Anthony Hetherington, who dressed as Elvis during his military years and sang the King’s greatest hits.
Karen Chilton, whose husband Michael is a resident at Chawley Grove, said: "What an amazing evening, Danni and the team nailed it once again! The entertainment was wonderful, the decor was fab, and the food and drink were yummy. The main thing, though, was the happiness on the faces of the residents, the true stars of the show!”
Wellbeing Lead Danni Hudson said: “Our team was absolutely thrilled when we were told we could host a prom event! A lot of planning goes into an event like this, and the entire team have worked incredibly hard to create such an unforgettable experience.
