Residents, families and members of the local community recently came together at Cambridge Grove Care Home in Fulbourn, Cambridge, for a special wellbeing event designed to encourage relaxation, connection and self-care.
The home opened its doors for a Nurture and Nourish Day, welcoming guests to enjoy a calm and sociable start to the year. Visitors were greeted with a healthy breakfast, choosing from granola with fruit and yoghurt or avocado and tomatoes on toast before settling in for a relaxed morning together.
Local visitor Gill Hartley, who attended with her husband Brian, said they both had a wonderful time and enjoyed everything that had been organised for the day.
Entertainment was provided by local performer Tim the Piano, while guests later enjoyed homemade soup prepared by the team. The afternoon also included craft activities and relaxing hand massages delivered by visiting masseuse Kelly Baxendale.
Resident Felicity Tortike, aged 96, said the event had been especially enjoyable, particularly as it gave her the chance to spend time with her cousin Ann during the day.
Kelly Baxendale shared that she always enjoys visiting Cambridge Grove and providing treatments that support relaxation and wellbeing for residents and guests.
To mark the occasion, visitors were given personalised packets of wildflower seeds to take home as a small reminder of the day.
Home Ambassador Amy Milburn, who organised the event, said it was a pleasure to welcome people into the home and create an opportunity for residents, families and the wider community to spend time together.
At Cambridge Grove, events like these are an important part of daily life, helping to create meaningful moments, encourage connection and support wellbeing for residents and visitors alike.
