The team at Chawley Grove Care Home in Cumnor recently took part in a Dementia Friends workshop led by Perrie from the Alzheimer’s Society, helping to build greater understanding of how to support people living with dementia.
The interactive session introduced the principles behind the Dementia Friends initiative, a national programme that encourages people to learn more about dementia and consider small ways they can support those affected in everyday life.
During the workshop, the Chawley Grove team explored practical ways to show patience, understanding and empathy towards people living with dementia, both within the home and across the wider community.
The team were proud to receive their Dementia Friends badges following the session and will wear the forget-me-not symbol as a reminder of their commitment to supporting residents living with dementia.
At Chawley Grove, continuing education and awareness around dementia plays an important role in helping residents feel understood, supported and valued in their daily lives.
