A giant bear in an England shirt proved the star attraction as residents, families and local children came together for a World Cup-themed community picnic at a Fulbourn care home.
Guests enjoyed an afternoon of football-inspired fun at Cambridge Grove Care Home, Cambridge Road, with activities including a penalty shoot-out, giant Connect 4, Jenga, golf targets and croquet.
The highlight of the event was a visit from Camby Bear, who pulled on an England shirt and took his place between the posts as goalkeeper, challenging youngsters and residents to beat him from the penalty spot.
Eight-year-old school pupil Rose Berryman said: “I loved seeing Camby Bear. He was very soft. He was very good in goal – I only managed to score one goal!”
Residents and visitors also enjoyed food and refreshments while taking part in the games.
Centenarian Mavis Collis said: “It was a fun afternoon and the food was great. The bear was very cute and definitely made people smile.”
Cambridge Grove Home Ambassador Amy Milburn said: “It was great to see everyone come together for the afternoon; we all had lots of fun. Camby Bear was a very special addition to the day and made everyone’s smiles that bit bigger.”
Visitor Gill Hartley, from Fulbourn, added: “We love coming to Cambridge Grove. Amy and the team are always so welcoming.”
