A new community initiative at Abbots Wood Manor is creating a relaxed and supportive space for people living with dementia and those close to them.
The Forget-Me-Not Café brings people together each month, offering time to connect, share experiences and feel understood in a friendly, informal setting.
Held at the home, the café has been designed to feel easy to attend, whether someone is visiting for the first time or returning again. Guests are welcomed with a warm drink and the chance to spend time with others who may be navigating similar experiences.
The focus is on simple, meaningful interaction. Conversations develop naturally, activities are available for those who wish to take part, and there is no pressure to do anything beyond simply being there.
For many, opportunities like this can make a real difference. Having a space where people feel comfortable, included and supported helps reduce isolation and creates a sense of familiarity over time.
The team at Abbots Wood Manor created the café to strengthen connections within the local community, offering somewhere people can return to regularly and feel at ease.
The Forget-Me-Not Café takes place at Abbots Wood Manor on the third Thursday of each month. Time: 10am to 12pm
Open to people living with dementia, as well as family members and carers
