A Touch of Fairytale Magic at Elstow Manor Care Home

A Touch of Fairytale Magic at Elstow Manor Care Home

Residents at Elstow Manor Care Home in Wixams recently enjoyed a lively afternoon of theatre and entertainment as a travelling performance group brought a colourful pantomime production of Cinderella to the home.

The performance transformed the lounge into a cheerful theatre space, filled with music, humour and familiar fairytale moments. Residents joined in with songs, laughter and conversation, creating a warm atmosphere that continued well after the final curtain.

Resident Wilf Hulland, aged 96, particularly enjoyed the surprise appearance of the fairytale character, describing it as “a lovely treat” and saying the performance brought back fond memories of theatre visits over the years.

The energetic cast balanced multiple costume changes, music and classic pantomime humour, creating an engaging show that residents said was both uplifting and nostalgic.

Resident Graham Langton, 74, commented:

“It was really good. You could tell the cast were enjoying themselves, and that made it even better to watch.”

Anne Poole, 91, added that the performance reminded her of theatre outings she had enjoyed in the past:

“The energy of the cast was wonderful, and it was clear how much effort they put into entertaining everyone.”

Wellbeing and Lifestyle Coach Oliver Waddington said events like this play an important role in daily life at the home:

“Days like this bring so much enjoyment and conversation for residents. The performance created a real buzz around the home and it was lovely to see everyone so engaged.”

Creative visits, performances and shared experiences are a regular part of life at Elstow Manor, supporting wellbeing, connection and meaningful moments.
