Residents and team members at Milngavie Manor Care Home recently helped create a deeply meaningful Valentine’s Day moment when resident Mary was reunited with her husband Oliver for a special meal together.
Oliver, who is currently receiving end-of-life care at St Margaret’s Hospice, was determined to spend Valentine’s Day with his wife. With support from both care teams, he was able to visit the home, bringing roses and sharing a quiet, romantic meal together.
Mary and Oliver first met in Glasgow in 1980 and married three years later, building a life together spanning more than four decades. Their reunion on Valentine’s Day reflected the strength of that bond, with both expressing how much the opportunity to spend time together meant.
At Milngavie Manor, supporting residents also means supporting the people closest to them. Creating opportunities for meaningful time together, whether through special occasions or everyday visits, is an important part of life within the home.
Team members described the visit as a very special moment, bringing warmth and comfort not only to Mary and Oliver but to everyone who witnessed their time together.
