TV Antiques Expert Brings Nostalgia and Stories to Cofton Park Manor Care Home

Residents at Cofton Park Manor Care Home in Bromsgrove enjoyed a special afternoon of memories, craftsmanship and curiosity when BBC ‘Flog It’ presenter and antiques expert Nick Davies paid a visit.

Held at the home on Lickey Road, the event welcomed residents, team members and members of the local community, all invited to bring along treasured heirlooms and vintage finds for informal valuation and conversation.

One particularly moving moment came from resident Robert Allen, 93, a former Jewellery Quarter craftsman, who proudly shared a diamond necklace he had made for his wife many years ago.

“Although this was worth a couple of hundred pounds, it is a priceless piece of jewellery with lots of treasured memories for me,” said Robert.

Throughout the afternoon, Nick chatted with residents, admired their belongings and offered friendly insights into a wide range of fascinating items, including:

  • Decorative pottery and Japanese plates from the 1920s
  • Stamp collections and costume jewellery
  • Brass Indian incense burners
  • An Edwardian pearl watch
  • Vintage lorgnette spectacles
  • A gold chain belonging to a member of the Cofton Park Manor team

Most objects were valued between £50 and £250, but the true value of the afternoon came from the stories, memories and personal connections behind each piece.

Nick Davies said: “I’ve had a wonderful afternoon at Cofton Park Manor. It’s been fascinating to see such a wide variety of items and to hear the stories behind them.”

Community Relationship Manager Wendy Sibley added: “We all had a fantastic afternoon. So many people asked for Nick to return, which is a wonderful reflection of how much the day was enjoyed. We’re already looking forward to welcoming him back in 2026.

The event celebrated not only antiques and collectables, but the personal memories and stories that make them truly priceless.”

Events like this form an important part of daily life at Cofton Park Manor Care Home in Bromsgrove, helping residents stay connected to their interests, their memories, and their wider community.
