A talented chef from Southampton is celebrating national recognition after being crowned Best Care Home Chef at the South East regional finals of the Great British Care Awards.
Clifford McCrea, Head Chef at Templeton Place Care Home in Nursling, Southampton, beat tough competition to win the regional title at the DoubleTree in Brighton. He will now represent the South East at the national finals at Birmingham’s ICC in February.
Affectionately known by residents as “The Artist”, Clifford is recognised not only for his creative flair but for how deeply his food enhances everyday life at the home. Inspired by a promise he made to his grandmother, his cooking is rooted in care, dignity, and genuine joy.
“Food is my passion and I’m delighted to win the South East title,” said Clifford. “I love creating dishes for the residents at Templeton Place, knowing how important good food is to their health and happiness. I’m excited to represent the region in the national finals and thank the judges for this honour.”
