A big-hearted Badgers Mount care home team put on their walking shoes to raise hundreds of pounds to support Parkinson’s nurses.
The energetic team members at Nesbit House Care Home joined The Walk for Parkinson’s UK in Mote Park, Maidstone, to support the charity and raise awareness.
Money raised helps fund new nurses as well as providing extra training in Parkinson’s for health care professionals.
Nesbit House Customer Relations Manager Julie Le May was thrilled to give up her Sunday morning to join the 5.7mile walk.
She said: “It was a wonderful atmosphere on the day, although we all got a little hot because the weather was so nice.
“There was a super community spirit, and we were all delighted to support such a worthwhile charity.
“At Nesbit House, we have residents who live with Parkinson’s, so we understand first-hand how debilitating this progressive neurological disease can be and how vital specialist care and support are.
“We all felt very proud that we achieved this together.”
The team ended up raising an incredible £650 for Parkinson’s UK, which has been handed to the charity.
Community Fundraiser, James Beeching of Parkinson’s UK, said: “We were thrilled to have Nesbit House involved in this year’s walk.
“Their enthusiasm shone through, and it’s local support like this that makes a huge difference. By joining the walk and sharing our nurses' appeal with the wider community, they have helped shine a light on the urgent need for more specialist nurses.”
