Hindhead Place Team Member Completes Fundraising Run Supporting Dementia Care

A member of the team at Hindhead Place Care Home recently completed a personal fundraising challenge in support of local dementia services.

Customer Relations Manager Tina Laing took part in the Great South Run in Portsmouth, completing the 10-mile route in a personal best time of 1 hour and 33 minutes. She chose to take on the challenge in honour of her father, who lives with vascular dementia.

Supporting local dementia services

Tina used the event to raise funds for The Hunter Centre in Haslemere, a local dementia day care centre that provides activities, companionship and practical support for people living with dementia, as well as respite for families and carers.

After months of training with Haslemere Border Running Club, she was pleased to present a cheque for £750 to the charity.

Tina shared that supporting a cause close to home made the experience especially meaningful, and highlighted the importance of services that help people living with dementia remain active, supported and connected.

Reflecting the values at Hindhead Place

Home Manager Janyce Wilks said the team was proud of Tina’s achievement and her commitment to supporting the wider dementia community. She noted that initiatives like this reflect the compassion, understanding and community focus that shape everyday life at Hindhead Place.

At the home, supporting wellbeing extends beyond residents themselves to families, carers and the local community, recognising the importance of connection, awareness and shared support.
