Residents and the team at a Nursling care home couldn’t wait to open their doors to the community for their dementia-friendly summer picnic.
Templeton Place Care Home, Hurst Way, joined forces with Right at Home and Dementia Adventure to host the event.
The event raised funds for the Dementia Adventure, which supports people with dementia in getting outdoors and enjoying the benefits of nature. Donations are used to support people to lead active lives.
Templeton Place Wellbeing Coach Kiya McFarlane said: “We would like to thank those people who came a long way and helped us support our community.
“The event raised funds as well as awareness about dementia - it was so lovely to see all the smiles. We cannot wait to do it all again next year.”
Templeton Place resident Jean Vier said: “It was lovely to hear all the laughter and see how our community connects.
“It’s always lovely being in the outdoors, and our connection with nature is so important for our hearts and minds.”
Entertainment on the day was provided by singer Lisa Jane, who impressed guests with her soulful jazz.
The Templeton team also set up reminiscence tables with pictures and items from picnics from the ‘50s and ‘60s, as well as a gardening table where guests could plant seeds and decorate pots.
