Elstow Manor in Wixams, Bedford celebrated the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day on Thursday 8th May. The event brought together residents, staff and community members to honour the historic occasion.
The celebrations included a moving bagpipe performance by Richard Galley, President of the Bedford Pipe Band. Andy Stewart treated the audience to a lively performance encouraging everyone to sing-along to wartime classics and wave Union Jack flags.
A special highlight of the day was a room dedicated to VE Day memorabilia. Thanks to the Higgins Museum in Bedford and contributions from residents who shared their own keepsakes and stories, the display offered a poignant reminder of what Britain's experiences 80 years ago.
Home Manager, Ramona Stanciu, said: "It was wonderful to see everyone come together and celebrate such an important moment in history. The music, the stories and the sense of togetherness made it such a special afternoon. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made this VE Day celebration a day to remember."
