Elstow Manor Celebrates Global Culture and Flavour

Elstow Manor Celebrates Global Culture and Flavour

Residents at Elstow Manor Care Home enjoyed a vibrant cultural celebration this autumn as colleagues shared the tastes and traditions of their home countries.

The Bedford Road care home was filled with colour, music, and the aroma of delicious food as the team prepared an impressive international feast, including dishes inspired by Africa, the Caribbean, India, Asia, and Japan. The festivities coincided with Diwali, adding even more sparkle to the occasion.

Chefs and care team members decorated the home with colourful displays and traditional dress, proudly showcasing cultural items and stories from their countries of origin. Residents took part in music, dance, and cultural activities that brought people together through shared joy and discovery.

Wellbeing and Lifestyle Coach Oliver Waddington arranged reminiscence boxes from the Higgins Museum in Bedford to spark conversation and memories, while the CE Luton Volunteers Church Group joined for an uplifting afternoon of celebration.

Oliver said:

“It was amazing to see our wonderful team showcase items from their home countries and dress up for the occasion. The joy and energy throughout the home made it such a special day for our residents.”

At Elstow Manor, moments like these are part of a broader commitment to meaningful activity, inclusion, and community connection, ensuring every day is rich with purpose and joy.
