Comedy and Awareness Combine for World Diabetes Day at Cofton Park Manor

Comedy and Awareness Combine for World Diabetes Day at Cofton Park Manor

Residents at Cofton Park Manor Care Home in Bromsgrove enjoyed an uplifting afternoon of laughter and learning in celebration of World Diabetes Day.

The home welcomed actor, comedian, and director Jennifer Rigby, founder of Aunty Jen Productions, for a stand-up comedy show designed to raise awareness of diabetes while bringing smiles to residents and team members alike.

Blending humour with insight, Jennifer’s performance explored the everyday experiences of living with diabetes, offering a light-hearted but respectful take on a condition affecting many in the community.

Kathleen Posting, a 92-year-old resident, said:

“Jennifer was brilliant, and was able to put a very funny stance on quite a serious condition.”

The event had special significance at Cofton Park Manor, where both staff and residents are living with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.

Community Relations Manager Wendy Sibley commented:

“We have staff here who are Type 1 diabetic and residents who are both Type 1 and Type 2, so today was a very special day of awareness for our staff and residents. Jennifer’s performance was genuinely entertaining and hilarious, and she had a wonderful interaction with our residents. Throughout the entire afternoon, there was so much laughter.”

World Diabetes Day at Cofton Park Manor was a reminder that education and awareness can go hand-in-hand with joy, connection, and celebration, especially when shared through the power of comedy.
