Celebrating Peggy’s 101st Birthday at Hindhead Place

Celebrating Peggy’s 101st Birthday at Hindhead Place

Residents and team members at Hindhead Place Care Home recently came together to celebrate a very special milestone as Peggy marked her 101st birthday.

Peggy enjoyed a celebratory lunch with friends and colleagues at the home, along with a visit from a friendly four-legged guest, Molly, who quickly became part of the celebrations. The afternoon was filled with conversation, laughter and shared memories, reflecting the strong sense of community within the home.

A lifetime of memories and positivity

Born Marguerite Green in Bourne End, Buckinghamshire, Peggy has spent most of her life in Surrey, living in both Godalming and Haslemere. Before retirement, she worked as a secretary, including roles with the Minister of Agriculture and the National Grid.

Known for her calm and cheerful outlook, Peggy often says that “keeping happy and not worrying too much” has been her approach to life. Her love of nature, animals, gardening and golf continues to shape how she spends her time today. She particularly enjoys relaxing in the garden at Hindhead Place and watching classic war films and musicals.

A community that celebrates every milestone

Team members at Hindhead Place were delighted to help make Peggy’s birthday memorable, with friends Sue and Roger King joining the celebrations alongside their dog Molly.

Customer Relations Manager Tina Laing shared that celebrating milestones like this is always special for the team, especially when residents bring such rich life experience, stories and local connections to the home.

At Hindhead Place, occasions like these reflect the home’s focus on community, companionship and supporting residents to continue enjoying the things that matter most to them.
