At Alston House Care Home, we believe in bringing the world to our residents – and last week, we did just that as we launched our exciting new “Around the World” experience! Our first destination: the vibrant and colourful country of Turkey.
The day was full of authentic Turkish delights from start to finish. Our gents were treated to traditional grooming by expert barbers from Istanbul Barbers in Eastleigh, who brought the charm and flair of a true Turkish barber shop right into our home – hot towels, precise trims, and all the pampering you could ask for.
Later, the room came alive with the sights and sounds of a mesmerising belly dance performance by Meena, whose graceful moves and dazzling costume brought smiles and applause all around. Residents and staff alike were captivated by the cultural showcase.
No Turkish experience would be complete without a taste of its rich cuisine – and our wonderful residents got hands-on by making their own baklava, filling the air with the sweet scent of honey and spices. Meanwhile, our talented kitchen team pulled out all the stops with a stunning themed menu: succulent lamb and chicken kebabs served with mint yoghurt and pitta, a refreshing fruit couscous, and to finish, a deliciously creamy Persian rice pudding.
It was a day full of flavour, music, culture and joy – the perfect start to our Around the World series.
