Alston House Joins Eastleigh’s VE Day 80 Festival Celebrations

On Saturday 10th May 2025, residents and team members from Alston House Care Home were proud to take part in the Eastleigh VE Day 80 Festival, hosted by Dream Empire Events at Leigh Road Recreation Ground.

Thanks to the support of the Visit Eastleigh Team, Alston House was given its own gazebo for the day, with special thanks to Town Ranger Dean for helping us set up tables, chairs, and a perfect spot for a picnic.

Our team worked hard to make sure every resident who wished to attend had the opportunity to experience this fantastic community event. We made several trips back and forth to Alston House to support residents throughout the day, serving up delicious picnic treats along with teas and coffees.

One of the most memorable moments was when our residents had the chance to meet “Winston Churchill” and “Clemmy”, just before Mr Churchill delivered his stirring speech from the Bandstand to mark the end of the war.

The celebrations continued with lively jiving performances and uplifting songs from the talented Satin Dolls, creating a joyful and nostalgic atmosphere for all.

It was a wonderful day of remembrance, connection, and community spirit—and one that we were honoured to be a part of.
