Magical moments at Abbots Wood Manor as festive season starts

Over delicious hot drinks and some festive music, residents joined forces to light up their wonderful tree which has been placed in their lounge.

Resident Elizabeth said: “It’s a delightful tree and we all made sure the branches were filled and all the decorations were perfectly placed.”

Fellow resident Bill added: “As children, we loved decorating the tree, it was always a special time and I have such happy memories.”

Regional Community Relations Lead Richard Hollands said:

“Our tree at Abbots Wood Manor is very pretty and carefully thought out.

“Everyone was keen to help and share their Christmas tree memories. We hope that all our guests as well as residents and staff can enjoy our decorations this year.”

The idea of a Christmas tree began in Germany when in the 16th century, devout Christians took Christmas trees into their homes.

The evergreen tree is also a symbol of everlasting life and light and the star represents the Star of Bethlehem which guided the Three Wise Men to the stable where Jesus was born.

Here in the UK, most houses will have a tree and the decorating of it is a family event.

Richard added: “We are all looking forward to being with family and friends this year at Christmas and I am sure our home will be alive with merriment and laughter, we cannot wait!”
